Loving Lovehearts

Some time ago I wrote about how I love a Love Hearts tale.
I still do, only I have noticed, on my recent purchases of Love Hearts that there are some really odd updates.
They always said things like 'You're hot', 'Call me', 'Gorgeous' and the like.

But now there are ones that I simply don't understand.
'Happy Harry' - is that a joke I don't get? Is it a phrase those hip youngsters are using? I just want to know what it means! And what it has to do with love!
Similarly, what on earth does 'Granny P' have to do with love? I don't get it! And I want to!
At least when the majority of Love Hearts do at least spell correctly and have a little grammar.
But then I found the sweet 'Me Julie Best Mum', I don't have words. I just don't. How can I invent a Love Hearts story around such ridiculous sweets?

By the way, after I took this photo I found another sweet, which had the words 'Mermaid Eloise'.
Seriously, would someone please, pretty please, explain this to me?

We don't have them here in the states (at least not in my neck of the woods) so I had to google them. Even with the explanation that the phrases were the result of a contest, it still didn't make a lick of sense to me. Maybe I'm a slow minded American, but I just can't figure out what would make THESE phrases the winners! Anyhoo, here's the best info wrap up I found....Click Me

You are SO cool! It was doing my head in that I didn't understand.
I'm with you, how bad were the ones that lost?!

There was a nationwide competition to have your own personal message immortalised on a Love Heart.

The winner chose the following messages

Think Pink, Joyful Jo, Granny P, Me Julie Best Mum, Juicy Jessie, I Luv Alan, Happy Harry, Heart Baby, Kin of U Home and Mermaid Eloise.

Here's the thing I don't understand though.
Did people win and then choose their phrase, or did the phrases themselves win?

Yeah! What is the message "kin of u home" - I got that on a loveheart today and was very confused! Can anyone explain why "kin of u home" won a competition?!

I'm SO pleased not to be alone in this. I just don't get it!
What does "kin of u home" even mean?
It's not even English.
It reminds me of Japlish!

Having hidden love hearts within my 'beaus' Valentine presents, we both ended up completely bemused about 'kin of u home'.
Having found out its meaning, we're both quite pleased to see its meaning is completely in-keeping with these fab sickly-sweet-romantic-gestures!

I made a Valentine with lovehearts once. What romantics we are!

That actually does make some sense now!
I do still want to know if the people won and chose or if the phrases themselves won! lol

We just had these on Tuesday and my husband said "wouldn't it be funny, if your name was on one of these?" Then he opened the package and it said "me Julie Best Mum", and my name is Julie and I am a mom. Wow, how cool is that?

That's really, really cool!
I'm actually feeling a little jealous!
I don't envision that 'Stephanie' will ever make it onto a loveheart! ;)
