Song Of The Week XXXXVII

It's not really a song this week, rather a beautiful piece of music.
Every time I hear the opening notes I feel like I could just drift off somewhere. I get lost in the memories of the movie, remembering the scenes and how powerfully acted they were.

Michael Nyman - The Piano - The Heart Asks Pleasure First:

I can't quite believe this came out in 1993. 16 years ago. I was a teenager and that really blows my mind. I still love this movie, haven't watched it in a while and I'm going to have to rectify that!

Ah, The Piano, I have very fond memories of that movie. I watched it twice and then bought the CD. Very unusual for me at the time. Beautiful, haunting music that really stays with you.

It's just a wonderful movie, I struggle to think of another story which has a mute heroine.
The way Holly Hunter acts with her eyes never fails to stun me!
And that music! I love Michael Nyman!

That so makes me want to head to the video store so I can watch it again. What an amazing film!
